About this category

Shotguns at Beverly Supply Co.

A shotgun is the most versatile gun in the safe — same receiver, different barrel, and you've got a turkey gun, a deer slug gun, a clay buster, or a home-defense piece. The shotgun rack in Beverly stays heavy on 12 gauge but always has 20s and .410s for new shooters and turkey hunters who hate recoil.

Pump-actions

Winchester SXP — inertia-assisted, the fastest pump on the market — and Tristar Cobra II turkey pumps with extended chokes already screwed in.

Semi-autos & magazine-fed

Rock Island VR80 mag-fed 12 gauge semi-autos with accessory rails for tactical setups and 3-gun.

Over/unders for clays & upland

Pointer Acrius O/Us — the affordable entry point into clays, sporting, and upland bird hunting.

Buying tips

  • 01

If you're buying one shotgun, buy a 12 gauge pump with a 28" barrel and a screw-in choke. It'll do everything from skeet to turkey to home defense.

  • 02

Recoil is real — youth shooters and small-frame adults should start with a 20 gauge, not a 'mans gun.' Confidence builds with hits, not misses.

  • 03

Patterning matters more than the barrel length. Spend an afternoon and a box of shells at 25 yards with your hunting load to find the sweet-spot choke.

FAQ

What gauge is best for turkey hunting?

12 gauge with a turkey choke and 3" #5 or #6 loads is the standard. 20 gauge with TSS shot has closed that gap in recent years and is gentler on recoil-sensitive hunters.

Do I need to register a shotgun in WV?

No. West Virginia does not require shotgun registration. Standard 4473 background check at purchase is the only paperwork.
